Augmented Reality Ghost Hunt Games Bring the Ghouls to Life

From TechnoBab: Augmented Reality Ghost Hunt Games Bring the Ghouls to Life
I’m sure every town or city in the world has their own stories to tell about a certain abandoned house or building in the area that is purportedly haunted. I’m a big baby when it comes to ghosts, so I try to avoid these locations as much as possible.

But for this augmented reality game, I might change my mind – provided I’ve got my best friends who will take on any haunted houses with me, that is.

We’ve all been told that every place has it’s own story, and that’s precisely what Haunted Planet Studios is aiming to do with their series of augmented reality ghost hunt games. The developer has come up with several applications that will let users capture the “paranormal activity” by running the game on their mobile phones.

As of now, two games have already been created: Falkland Ghost Hunt for Scotland and Viking Ghost Hunt for Dublin, Ireland. It’s interesting how they used AR together with fantastic audio effects and GPS technology to come up with an integrative game that will surely give anyone the heebie jeebies.

UK: Red Lion hotel hen night 9-3-2012

From Ghost Hunt Events: Red Lion hotel hen night 9-3-2012
Hen night ghost hunt at the Red Lion Hotel, Colchester – 9th March 2012.

As a team we were thoroughly looking forward to returning to the Red Lion as it was a brilliant ghost hunt the first time around, this time we were hoping for more of the same. We also came prepared with more of our kit, this time four infra-red remote cameras, which our guests can control throughout the night.

Colchester is a very interesting place, not least because about 30mins before we started a group walked by outside dressed as Cavaliers, random and strange!

The Hen party group had not done anything like this before and my introductory talk didn’t help matters when I told them that we would be predominately in the dark, some guests became scared at this.

However once we spilt into two groups, one heading for the haunted bedrooms, the other into the Parliamentary Restaurant and bar. Each group had a range of electronic kit, namely K2 metres and our ghost communicators, alongside some of our less technical kit, bouncy led balls.

After a while a young male energy 8-9 years old made himself known to me, he was dressed in a smart suit with knee length trousers, not a school uniform and he was from the 1850s and as I said at the time he would have grown up to be a gentleman as he was from a well to do family.

I also sensed another male energy who I met on our last visit, he was a grumpy old bugger as I put it. He mainly stayed near to the bar or public toilet entrance. The guests enjoyed their time communicating with the energy. The energy however didn’t like me the first time and he surely didn’t like me this time. The energy was about 70 years old, fairly short wearing a flat cap and smoking a pipe. Whilst Michelle was communicating with him and asking him to touch her, another guest who was in the restaurant felt a touch on her elbow. During Michelle’s questions I recorded some audio and a very clear EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena, a.k.a. ghost voice) was recorded.

http://youtu.be/Rw3oXpq-Ffs

One of the guests proclaimed his name was Robert. When asked if this was true the communicator responded with a “Yes” answer. The guest in question (Julie) stated that the energy held her hand when we were in the restaurant and that it was a pleasant experience for her. Although at this point Julie was rather tearful.

We also started using the writing planchette and some writing did occur, although the results were not conclusive. All the while Michelle was communicating to the spirit via our ghost communicator.

Our communicator device also flashed quite a lot which we have never seen before. The energy asked if I would move further away, which I duly complied with.

The energy also stood very close to Michelle and during this time our camera was out of focus, as soon as the energy stepped away from Michelle the camera refocused. Although when the energy returned and stood beside another guest (also Michelle) the camera went out of focus again.

Many guests saw a shadow within the restaurant which due to the lighting could have only come from within the restaurant (as the lights were outside on the wall) at the same time everyone heard a sound, although we have no idea what it could have been. Also one of our motion sensors was set off when no-one was near it.

Many guests commented that they felt uncomfortable in the ladies toilet, this seems to be a recurring feature of the ghost hunts that we have undertaken at the Red Lion hotel.

After a short break we headed for the cellar, which is one of the most interesting cellars I have encountered. On speaking to the manager he hold us that there is reputed to be a tunnel which goes to the Castle from these cellar, whether this is true or not remains a mystery.

As usual when a person walk heavily on the gratings outside the noise reverberates throughout the cellar, and when this happens all the guests jump!

A male energy was fairly quick to join us, his name was Archie de Marquis and he proceeded to give the guests some sense of his presence in the form of gentle touching and moving the guests arms.

Many guests felt pins and needles in their arms, cobweb sensations around their faces and numbness throughout their arms.

All in all a very enjoyable evening for the guests and us. Steve

Fayetteville, ARK: Ghost Hunting to be Discussed at Upcoming Lecture

University of Arkansas news: Ghost Hunting to be Discussed at Upcoming Lecture
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Misty Bastian, chair of the department of anthropology at Franklin and Marshall College, will present a lecture titled “Spirit Communication in 21st Century America: ‘Ghost Hunting’ and Digital Technologies” on Thursday, March 29, at the University of Arkansas.

“I first met Misty because of her work regarding spiritual practices in western Africa,” said JoAnn D’Alisera, director of the religious studies program and associate professor of anthropology in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. “She’s an internationally known and highly regarded anthropologist, and I knew our students would benefit from exposure to her latest groundbreaking fieldwork.”

An examiner of the paranormal research community, Bastian has interviewed researchers and psychics, gone on investigations with ghost hunters and engaged in participant observational research. She explores the subculture of individuals who seek contact with spirits, ghosts or other paranormal entities.

“My research is similar to other anthropological studies,” said Bastian. “I'm digging into fundamental questions about religion, work ethic, power structure and other basic concepts that define every community. The difference is that the paranormal community hasn't been studied like this before.”

The lecture is sponsored by the religious studies program and the department of anthropology. It will begin at 6 p.m. in the J.B. Hunt Building, room 147.

Tettenhall Towers in Wolverhampton is a brand new location for simply ghost nights. Tettenhall Towers dates back to the early part of the eighteeth century and was built by Thomas Pearson is 1771. In 1851 it was bought by Colonel Thomas Thorneycroft who was a very eccentric man and has been spotted many times at the Towers, unhappy that there are people in his home, Its documented that scared builders have fled the property and not returned because of what they’ve seen or heard!!

The Thorneycrofts, Colonel Thorneycroft bought and sold property on a grand scale but preferred Tettenhall Towers to the rest. Colonel Thorneycroft was also an eccentric of the highest order, he was known for pushing his butlers off the top of the towers to test various flying machines of his own creation.

G B Thorneycroft, the colonel’s father, was the company founder who also became Wolverhampton’s first mayor in 1848. But it was his son, the buyer of Tettenhall Towers, who became arguably one of the village’s most eccentrically famous residents.

The Colonel was variously described as a man whose fertile imagination, individual point of view, broad and ready wit and energetic language meant that he would not readily be forgotten.

Tettenhall Towers, now part of Tettenhall College, is situated in Mount Road Tettenhall. The Towers dates back to the early part of the eighteenth century when a General Thomas Pearson, a returning Indian nabab bought land in Tettenhall at the site of the Holly Bush Inn.

Ireland: Limerick has a ghost named Daniel and he likes appearing on camera

From Joe .i.e.: Limerick has a ghost named Daniel and he likes appearing on camera
So far this year we’ve had reports of ghosts in Kerry, Kilkenny and who can forget the ghostly nun who posed for a picture in Galway? Now there’s a ghost in Limerick and his name is Daniel. No, seriously.

The Limerick Leader reports that a team of paranormal investigators spent the night in Limerick’s Milk Market last week, following continuous reports of strange things happening and CCTV footage which clearly shows unidentified objects randomly floating around the 200 year old market place. Spooky.

Four investigators with the group Ghost Hunt Ireland are currently in the process of examining the footage of their night spent in the market to see if they can find anything else, or catch a few more glimpses of Daniel on camera.

Since the story was originally published in the Limerick Leader the paper has said that many local people have come forward and talked about their own supernatural experiences in the market.

“We’ve had people in talking about their experiences who didn’t want to talk about this before. Our security guards, who open up at 4.30am, have also reported things that they can’t explain. It’s all very baffling,” said David O’Brien, the manager of the Milk Market.

Breda Duggan, who is the founder of Ghost Hunt Ireland, has said that the team recorded numerous “spikes” on the screens of their equipment when they started calling out and asking any spirits present to answer questions.

When the team finally tried to get some sleep in the Milk Market, they were awoken by loud activity on their equipment.

“With a history of over 200 years, something has to be there,” Ms Duggan said.

The strange presence is being referred to by locals as ‘Daniel the Ghost’ and Ghost Hunt Ireland plan to return to Limerick in the coming weeks to examine the Milk Market again.

What do you think? Cast your eyes on the above picture from the Limerick Leader and have a look. Is it paranormal activity or a random burst of light?

Ghost Hunting – Psychic Medium vs. Paranormal equipment

CantonRep.com: Ghost Hunting – Psychic Medium vs. Paranormal equipment Depending upon what you are looking for in a ghost hunt/investigation you can probably find it somewhere. If the person leading the tour is not a psychic medium, intuitive or sensitive to their surroundings, they have no choice but to rely upon the use of EMF meters and other equipment where they will instruct you to look for one of the lights to go on so that you have found a ghost.

Food for thought;

If someone cannot see them, or hears them, feels them or senses them, then, how can they be your guide on a tour or investigation? In these cases, if they are leading a ghost tour or a walking ghost tour do they then become story tellers by reciting information found in newspapers, books, from mediums, etc. If they are leading a ghost investigation and relying upon the equipment that they use, how would different ghost hunters interpret the same data differently, and, if a medium says a spirit is there but the equipment is not registering it, how do you go on from there? On the other hand, when someone like the Warehouse uses a psychic medium on their ghost tours then the following are plausible scenarios; the psychic medium is telling you the truth and that she has the gift to speak to the spirits, she is delusional or that she is completely making it up or perhaps a combination of all of them.

Regardless of the technology, there is still no better piece of equipment than the human body. The next time that you watch a ghost hunting show where a psychic medium is present, they will always defer to the medium to provide confirmation that their equipment is recording accurately. Why do you think that is?

Most often asked Questions:

Are there “Gay” ghosts?

The short answer is both Yes and No to those being openly or secretly being Gay. To clarify this ambiguity, I need to explain further. Unlike in this life where unfortunately prejudice is a part of the world that we live in, in the afterlife, it does not exist. Imagine an existence where everyone is treated equal and peace, love and harmony prevail. Sounds pretty good doesn’t it? This part is a little trickier to explain as it will immediately bring forth in some people pre- conceived notions.

As we have free will in this life to make the choices we make, in the afterlife spirits also have free will to make choices. A spirit is a reflection of the person we were in this life. There are those that have passed on that have chosen to continue to be the essence of being of who they were as a person in this life where the human qualities had simply been transferred to a spiritual existence. And, for reasons of their own, there are those that have not made that choice in a spiritual existence.

The “Who’s who” in Ghost Hunting?

How this new directory could be of benefit to you

Whether you believe in ghosts or not, there is simply no denying the tremendous interest in them from every demographic group from around the world, and, there is no sign of this interest letting up. However; when it comes to wanting to be a part of this business, it can be more challenging especially if you are trying to start from scratch. This is where we can help.

The Warehouse on the Canal is considered as Ohio’s Center for Poe, Ghosts and Horror where we try to provide a fresh approach to the paranormal as is the case with our own Warehouse Ghost Tours www.theghostsofcanalfulton.com as well as providing assistance to others where we can. We are also creating The Warehouse / Dead and Loving It Tourism that is being designed to work with all businesses where entertainment /dining/shopping/lodging packages will be put together bringing customers to all on a year round basis.

This week will be the first meeting with a selected few experienced, passionate and dedicated Ghost Hunting Groups that eventually we hope to expand throughout the State of Ohio to be able to provide from a new directory to be created quality recommendations to assist others with different types of needs. Ex: If you are an Historical Society or a non-profit organization, etc that are in need of generating funds and have thought about creating a ghost hunting program, but, didn’t know how to go about it, this is where those recommendations can be of assistance.

If you are a Ghost Hunting Group that would like to be considered as part of the “Who’s who” or you are an organization that would like to explore a ghost hunting program, please email me at info@canalwarehouse.com

My First Ghost Hunt with My New Paranormal Society

From GhostPlace.com: My First Ghost Hunt with My New Paranormal Society

I recently created my own paranormal society after all of these strange experiences. I live in Springfield, Illinois, and we had our first ghost hunt last Monday. We investigated Wolfe Creek Cemetery. One of my fellow friends and investigators had an experience with a woman in white. So we went.

The first experience happened as I was telling whatever spirit that might be there that we weren't gonna hurt them and that it was okay to talk to us. At that moment four out of the six there heard an infant wailing, as if it was in pain. It lingered for a moment and we caught it on our recorder. I will upload that an the pictures when we are done analyzing.

The second experience happened as we were wrapping up. My friend Jay and I were talking to the guy who handles the tech department when we saw a white mist form and then dart to the right of Jay. I saw it again a few minutes later, and Jay and I took off after it. Our tech guy said he saw a white mist follow after us when we turned around and started walking back. We then left. We are still going over everything, and I will post.

A Supernatural St. Patrick's Day in New York City

From SBWire: A Supernatural St. Patrick's Day in New York City
New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/15/2012 -- Pete and Stew Kandel noted paranormal investigators and Licensed NYC tour guides aka the “Ghost Doctors” have a new twist on how to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, a supernatural twist.

“NYC has traditionally celebrated St. Patrick's Day in a big way over the years, with huge parades and loads of people coming into the city to have some fun,” say Dr. Stew. “And to add to the celebration we're starting another New York tradition, a St. Patrick's Day Ghost Hunt.”

This St. Patrick's Day the Ghost Doctors will lead a group of adventurous folks on a ghostly investigation of one of New York's most famous locations, “Grand Central Terminal.” After some basic training in proper paranormal investigative techniques – including the use of ghost hunting equipment – they'll set our to scour this grand terminal for a ghost load of fun.

“We've been investigating Grand Central for some time and have uncovered some strange paranormal phenomena,” says Dr. Stew. “This St. Patrick's Day ghost hunt should be really entertaining, considering that for decades people started their celebration by first taking the train to Grand Central Terminal where all their New York cheer and laughs began. And maybe if we're lucky, some of these spirits may still be hanging around.”

To find out more about this special upcoming St. Patrick's Day Ghost Hunting Tour – wearing green is of course optional – go to their website http://www.ghostdoctors.com

Ghost Doctors (http://www.ghostdoctors.com), based in New York City, is the premier ghost hunting tour in NYC that actually allows participants to experience “real” ghost hunts. Their ghosts hunts can be suited for both public, private and corporate events

UK: Cambs Supernatural Investigators hold first major ghost hunt at Dog in a Doublet, Whittlesey

From Camb Times: Cambs Supernatural Investigators hold first major ghost hunt at Dog in a Doublet, Whittlesey
CAMBRIDGESHIRE Supernatural Investigators held its first major ghost hunt at a Fenland pub after some mysterious incidents during its renovation.

Among ghost hunters at the Dog in a Doublet, Whittlesey, was KELLY FELSTEAD, fiancée of our editorial content manager Tom Jackson, who shared her experience.

A PUB nestling on a riverbank in the remote Fens is bound to be a prime target for centuries-old ghostly tales and supernatural goings-on.

So the Dog in a Doublet, Whittlesey, was the ideal setting for a ghost hunt by the newly-formed Cambridgeshire Supernatural Investigators (CSI), who visited the recently-renovated pub in a bid to capture some ghosts in the act.

It was with excitement, and a little bit of apprehension of the unknown, that my sister Jodie and I joined CSI on its hunt.

Landlords John and Della McGinn said the Dog in a Doublet was renowned for being haunted. Becky Cooper (green jacket) and Vivien Powell have formed Cambridgeshire Supernatural Investigators -Becky Cooper (green jacket) and Vivien Powell have formed Cambridgeshire Supernatural Investigators -

The couple have experienced many strange incidents including the curtains in their flat being mysteriously drawn when no-one’s home, screeching noises and things being moved around.

Builders were also running scared during the pub’s renovation.

Mrs McGinn said: “Some people have seen a woman walking across outside.

“We hear footsteps a lot from the cellar to our flat. John has had a feeling that someone followed him to the cellar.”

A picture taken by Kelly's sister Jodie showed an orb near Kelly's leg.A picture taken by Kelly's sister Jodie showed an orb near Kelly's leg.

Shortly before the ghost hunt, CSI co-founder Vivien Powell, from Chatteris, explained how she’d been pushed while alone near the cellar earlier that evening.

She said: “I was kneeling to lay a baseline test down, had a funny feeling and got pushed nearly down the stairs.”

With the first ghostly encounter of the night under our belt, we waited for the pub to officially close before the investigation could begin.

After dark the popular local was transformed from a bustling pub into an eerily silent and lonely building which I could believe was home to restless spirits. History of the Dog in a Doublet

THE Dog in a Doublet dates back to about the 15th or 16th century. The front of the pub is the oldest part.

It’s believed that it was built because of the river. When a body was found in the river it was taken to the pub and stored while police investigated or someone collected the body.

There was a bench for the bodies and a curtain separating it from the rest of the pub.

Armed with equipment including infra-red cameras, motion cameras, voice recorders and machines that detect electromagnetic fields (EMF), plus enough tea and coffee to keep everyone going until well past 4am, we finally got down to business.

I was given an EMF machine and was told that if at any time it flashed or made a noise to get my camera out.

My group, led by fellow CSI co-founder Becky Cooper, also from Chatteris, first investigated the main bar. We sat in a corner in the dark, the only light source from two candles at the window.

Using dousing rods she discovered that we were in the presence of a woman from the 19th century who visited the pub for work and died on the river.

Eerily, when asked to give us a sign, one of the candles began flickering energetically and the flame grew bigger while the other candle didn’t move.

After moving to the oldest part of the bar – where a male ghost also made contact through the dousing rods – we went upstairs. In little groups, we stayed in various rooms of the flat with our equipment in the hope of catching something on camera.

However, at the end of the session we discovered that the video camera on the stairs leading to the flat had been unplugged.

After a short break it was time to head downstairs.

On the stairs leading to the function room – at the end of which a plasma ball was placed – my torch suddenly died. I was told this was normal as spirits feed off electricity.

My torch came back to life when we left the area. It flickered on and off for the rest of the time we were downstairs.

The next day at home, when testing the torch, the battery was full of life.

One of the most unexplained events of the evening happened on the stairs near the cellar.

My sister and I saw a T-shirt, which was hanging on a hook, moving from side to side as if an unseen hand was swishing it.

Alerting the rest of the group, the swaying of the shirt got faster when Becky asked for a sign that someone was there. Her EMF device also flashed.

Just before leaving at 4.30am, we were left with another unexplained event. A whistle went off in the direction of a toy whistle that had been deliberately placed behind the bar - and nobody was near it.

• The group will present its findings at a psychic supper at the pub on April 1. Tickets cost £10 and include a sausage and mash supper. Places can be booked by calling Becky on 01354 693228 or Vivien on 01354 692347.

Ghost hunting at Preston Castle.

From Daily Reptile News: Ghost hunting at Preston Castle.
(visit the original link for lots of photos.

It has been no secret that for weeks now I have been planning to go look for ghosts at Preston Castle. I went with my good friend Bear of Mystic Valley Paranormal, his 2 boys and another friend Edward. I snapped this picture as soon as we pulled in. Preston Castle is no stranger to me as I have a view of it right out my living room window. I have lived close to it for many years and this will be the 2nd trip there to look for the ghosts that are always talked about roaming the halls there. This blog post is to highlight the night. The below picture was taken of the backside of the castle once we reached the parking area.

We all got there oh around 4:30 or so in the afternoon, got set up and just before dark started walking around. Now honestly not being a seasoned ghost hunter I don’t know everything about it, not even half, better yet not even 1/4 of what there is to know but I had my Android Ghost Radar on my tablet and my flashlight so I was set. We traveled fairly light, set up a charging station on the 2nd floor and proceeded to cover every accessible floor stopping quite a bit for EVP work and just to sit, listen and pay attention.

There were several areas where the feeling was just different but being a skeptic made if very hard to try to hone in on anything. When you are a skeptic it is far to easy to pass off strange feelings as just being in your head, after all we hare hanging out in an old castle with creaks, cracks and moans going on all the time. I would have to say all in all the night was uneventful, not to dissimilar from the last time I was there on a ghost hunt. I still can’t help but think with all the stories going around that there must be something there that is not explainable at least by me. I took SEVERAL pictures which I will put in a gallery below.

UK: Ghost-hunting duo called to old hotel in Canterbury

From This is Kent: Ghost-hunting duo called to old hotel in Canterbury
A HEADLESS figure, a farrier with unfinished business and a group of mischievous children are just some of the spectres supposedly uncovered at a former city hotel.

Ghost-hunter John Hippisley called in psychic medium Suzanne Artus after residents thought they heard things going bump in the night in Canterbury's former Pointer Hotel.

Within minutes of arriving at the building at 1, London Road, now converted into flats, Suzanne was deep in gory conversation.

She claimed she was talking to the spirit of a farrier from 1490 who knew the location of a decapitated head.

She also solved the mystery of the self-opening dishwasher that had spilled foam into the kitchen the night before.

The spirits told her four ghosts had been trying to get the machine started but obviously failed to read the instructions.

Mr Hippisley was called in when one of the residents believed he had seen a headless man as his cats started clawing at the wall.

Mr Hippisley had thought it might have been the ghost of Sir Thomas More, whose head is allegedly buried in the vault of St Dunstan's church opposite.

But Suzanne dismissed the theory – after talking to her farrier friend.

She did say the hotel was home to a "very elegant" woman and two housekeepers called Sarah and Emmalene.

The former hotel was once used by guests of Canterbury Cathedral and boasts a well in its centre into which, according to Suzanne, French prisoners of war were thrown and left to die.

John, who leads spook-searching tours around the city every Friday night, says he had detected the ghosts of French soldiers above Revivals and at Cafe St Pierre.

According to the hotel's owner, oranges had been found stabbed with a kitchen knife. Suzanne chatted to the spirits and explained: "One of the ghosts worked on the boats, which brought oranges to this country. They could not face the sight of them any more."

Residents had also complained of a coldness in some rooms. Suzanne told them: "Nothing can be done to remedy this – it is the cold nature of the spirit world."

But to everyone's relief she said there were no nasty ghouls present. She said: "They only linger because they had strong links with the building."

John said afterwards: "I thought there was only one spirit here. I had sensed a presence upstairs and downstairs but thought it was the same ghost. It is surprising Suzanne was able to contact so many in one place."

Walpole Bay Hotel, Margate ghost hunt

From Ghost Hunt Events: Walpole Bay Hotel, Margate ghost hunt
Walpole Bay Hotel Ghost Hunt in aid of The Children’s Trust – 18th February 2012

This ghost hunt was held on behalf of The Children’s Trust, all proceeds from the event went to the charity.

We started the evening in the alleged most haunted room. Room 310. A male energy stepped forward and gave his name as Edward, he was gentry without a doubt, aged 29 years old and from 1910 he stood about 5’6” in height and wore a pin stripe grey suit with a black top hat and a silver topped cane. Edward proceeded to give a little evidence to the guests by lifting their arms gently.

After this session we decided that we would have a roving ghost hunt, since we had access to several rooms on each floor and therefore let the guests wander from room to room to see what they could sense or pick up with our equipment. Since we did not want to disturb guests of the hotel later in the evening this seemed a good idea and it allowed the guests to investigate on their own.

Later in the evening we were trying a Scrying experiment with some of the guests in the downstairs female toilets, as the energy and the general feeling in this area was not a good one. Many of the female guests and a member of my team did not relish the idea of using these toilets as they had a bad feeling. Many odd noises also emanated from within the toilets, but on every single visit inside the door, whatever the noise was, stopped instantly. During the scrying experiment the guests saw the features change on whoever was sitting in the “hot seat”

Whilst I was in a room on the second floor we came across a female energy who told us via our communicator equipment that she once owned and managed the hotel. Within the same room another female energy was present, a maid, however neither of these energies managed to either make a noise that we could hear nor affect any of the guests.

Some of my team had had sessions in room 310 in the meantime where strange knocks had been heard and at one point they were in response to the taps and raps being asked by the people in the room. Whilst the guests were in another area, myself and a colleague re-visited room 310 to see if we could record these raps and taps on our audio equipment. On entering the room we noticed that there was a strong pungent smell of lavender, which considering we had both been in this room before along with all of the guests at various times throughout the night and at no time prior to this visit had either of us smelled lavender quite so strong.

For our final session we spent this in the ballroom downstairs as when I was in the room alone, there were many strange sounds like whistling coming from the direction of the ladies toilet and when I entered the room I thought I heard a piano playing, however there was no piano in the room.

We had lots of communication with spirit via our communication equipment in the ballroom and spirit were responding to our taps and raps and repeating them more or less on command.

During various EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) experiments, audio anomalies were recorded, some however we have been able to ascertain what exactly has been said in response to our questions, two are easily understandable and are available to hear.

'Ghost Adventures': Drops in on Old Town's haunts

From OregonLive.com: 'Ghost Adventures': Drops in on Old Town's haunts
For the sixth-season premiere of Travel Channel's "Ghost Adventures," the searching-for-spirits series visits Portland's Shanghai Tunnels. It's a homecoming for Portland native Aaron Goodwin, a camera operator who appears in the series alongside investigators Zak Bagans and Nick Groff.

The Portland episode begins as the "Ghost Adventures" crew meets Shanghai Tunnels curator Michael P. Jones at Hobo's Restaurant on Northwest Third Avenue in Old Town where underground tours begin. Jones relates the legend of the tunnels and the program re-creates scenes of transient loggers dropping through trap doors in the floor into the tunnels below, where they would be held until being sold as crewmen for ships headed across the Pacific.

"Ghost Adventures" then detours into "Cops" territory as the paranormal investigators ride along with a Portland police officer for a look at modern human trafficking in the form of prostitution.

"Oh yeah, I watch your show," a prostitute tells Bagans as she's being arrested.

Eventually the series returns to the Portland underground for a "lockdown" as the "Ghost Adventures" trio set up their ghost hunting equipment and try to make contact with the other side.

"I don't know if there are ghosts," Jones said. "All I know is some strange things happen down there."

During their time in the tunnels, the "Ghost Adventures" gang encounters unexplained door rattling and a ghostly heat signature captured by one of their instruments. Using a spirit box -- a radio frequency sweeper that emits white noise and what occasionally sounds like vocalizations -- the team hears what Bagans interprets as a male voice saying, "Let's get naked" near a prostitute's cove in the tunnels.

Goodwin, who was born in Eugene and lived in Sisters before graduating from Portland's Franklin High School in 1995, moved to Las Vegas when he was 21 with the intention of enrolling in film school. When he couldn't afford it, he taught himself and landed jobs as a camera operator or production assistant on a variety of gigs, including a Vegas shoot for the 2001-06 ABC spy caper "Alias." His job was to watch over star Jennifer Garner.

"That was the greatest job in the world because I have a huge crush on her," said Goodwin, 35. "We had eye contact a few times, and it was worth it."

He met Groff after sneaking into a college filmmaking class where he asked the professor how to get more involved in film. The instructor introduced Goodwin to Groff, a student. (Goodwin plans to post some of their earliest collaborations on his YouTube channel, agoodwincollections.)

"Eight years later Nick comes to me again and says, 'Help us hunt some ghosts,'" Goodwin recalled. "I'm like, whatever. I'd never thought twice about ghosts. I helped him out and had a huge paranormal experience."

Eerie experiences
During their first ghost hunt with Bagans in Virginia City, Nev., Goodwin said he felt a spirit come through his body. "It didn't go in my body, it came through my body," he said from his Las Vegas home last week. "My awareness was heightened. Now I was spooked."

He's since become a true believer in ghosts ("100 percent," he emphasized) and had been pushing for a "Ghost Adventures" episode in Oregon. He'd never been down in the Shanghai Tunnels before their December visit to shoot this week's episode.

"I'd heard stories," he said. "But Portland likes to keep a lot of stuff quiet. They try to protect it. It's the most amazing city in the world, and you don't want to jeopardize that. That's why we tell people it rains all the time so they're like, 'I don't want to move there.'"

In Portland's Shanghai Tunnels, Goodwin said he had a ghostly encounter.

"You could feel energy coming in and out," he said. "It was pretty cool. I connected hardcore with something down there."

In the future he'd like to return to Oregon to explore Astoria's underground tunnels. Until then, he'll go wherever his compatriots take him. Goodwin prefers not to know too much in advance about the next location they'll explore.

"It's more raw if I'm hearing about it for the first time when we get there," he said, noting he doesn't mind spending so much time on the road. "I'd rather live in a hotel and check in on my house. But my home is Oregon in my heart."

Wednesday!

I know I keep promising that I'm going to get back to a daily schedule of posts, and I know that weeks have gone by and there's been nothing regular about my schedule!

And I apologize! Stuff happens, abetted, I admit, by procrastination. There was a helluva lot of scanning of material I needed to do which I never did, and now I've got to get all that material back where it came from, so I've got 2 days of probably 12 hours a day spending my time scanning, and double checking to make sure I havne't missed any pages, etc.

So I'm going to spend the next 2 days doing that, will be all caught up on Wednesday, and will resume daily posts here.

And will finally have learned my lesson about procrastination - don't do it!
